Affordable wooden director’s chair - introductory model
Our “Billy” affordable director’s chair is furnished very simply. Like all our director’s chairs, the introductory model for the “Billy” wooden director’s chair is completely collapsible, has crossed legs with additional side reinforcements and an upright backrest. This is the affordable model for anyone looking for a simple and efficient variety of director’s chair.
The story behind the name “Billy"
Our director’s chair wears the “Billy” name with pride. Its namesake is Billy Wilder, the US screenwriter, film director and producer with Austrian origins. Wilder had a trail-blazing influence on comedy and drama films and was nominated for 21 Oscars. His most famous works were Some Like It Hot, Double Indemnity and Sunset Boulevard.
Billy Wilder lived in Berlin in 1927 and worked as a ghostwriter, writing scripts for Robert Liebmann and Franz Schulz. Under the name Samuel Wilder (he later changed his name in the USA), he wrote the script for Emil and the Detectives with Erich Kästner - the first film adaptation of Kästner’s novel.
Information on the type of wood and the upholstery fabric used for the chair
This untreated beech wood is honed for a smooth surface. This chair is produced exclusively in the EU. The hinges and/or fittings are all made exclusively of steel.
The light grey covers are lightfast, water resistant and durable. They are perfectly suitable for indoor and outdoor use and will resist a small rain shower unharmed.
